1Password vs Bitwarden for Business in 2026: Which Should Your Team Use?
Both are excellent password managers. For business use, the differences in admin controls, compliance features, and support matter more than for personal use.
The choice between 1Password and Bitwarden for a business is different from the personal use comparison. Admin controls, audit logging, compliance certifications, support responsiveness, and provisioning features matter more than they do for individuals. Here is how they compare on the dimensions that matter for business.
Admin controls and user management
1Password Business has more polished admin controls. Guest accounts for contractors, granular vault permissions, and the ability to set security policies across the organisation are all available and easy to configure. Bitwarden Teams and Enterprise also provide admin controls but the interface is less intuitive and some enterprise features require the Enterprise plan at $6 per user per month.
Compliance and certifications
1Password holds SOC 2 Type II certification. Bitwarden holds SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 certifications. Both are GDPR compliant. Bitwarden has a slight advantage on compliance certifications for organisations with strict compliance requirements.
User provisioning
1Password supports SCIM provisioning with Okta, Azure AD, and other identity providers on the Business plan. Bitwarden supports SCIM provisioning on the Enterprise plan. If your organisation uses SSO and wants to provision and deprovision users automatically, both support this but 1Password has a more mature implementation.
Price comparison
1Password Teams starts at $19.95 per month for 10 users. 1Password Business is $7.99 per user per month. Bitwarden Teams is $3 per user per month. Bitwarden Enterprise is $6 per user per month. Bitwarden is meaningfully cheaper at every tier.
The verdict
For small teams where budget matters: Bitwarden Teams at $3 per user per month is excellent value and provides the core features most teams need. For larger organisations with compliance requirements and IT teams managing the deployment: 1Password Business is easier to administer and worth the higher price.
