Where Surfer genuinely helps
The content editor is the strongest feature. Writing with the related terms panel open consistently results in more comprehensive articles that cover topics Google considers important. When we compare articles written with Surfer against articles written without it on similar topics, the Surfer articles consistently cover more relevant subtopics. This is real value that translates to better rankings over time.
The content score myth
The content score is the most marketed feature and the one we trust the least. Articles with scores of 50 have ranked above articles with scores of 90 in our testing. The score measures your content against ranking pages but it does not account for the quality of your content, the strength of your site, or dozens of other ranking factors. Use it as a rough guide, not a target to optimise toward blindly.
The audit feature
